Just before the winter holidays, small ensembles of students from the BHS String Orchestra, Intro Jazz Lab, and Tri-M Music Honor Society performed classic Christmas carols at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. These groups brought festive energy to the patients and staff.
Their visit had a clear meaningful effect in the hospital lobby. The staff reached out to these students and their teachers afterwards, saying, “Over those afternoons, you brought comfort, hope, and warmth into spaces where people often carry worry or fatigue. You lifted the spirits of our employees, brightened the days of our visitors, and gave our patients moments of peace and connection during challenging times.” These students learned how much of an impact their music can have on the community outside of school.
This wasn’t just an opportunity for these students to perform outside of class, but a chance to share their music with those who needed it.
