Fear – A Poem on the Destruction of Creativity

If you were to ask a child what their biggest fear was

They’d tell you stories of monsters and unknown creatures.

If you were to ask an adult

They would tell you they feared debt and failure.

If you were to ask an elderly person

They would tell you there is no greater fear than death.

But if you were to ask me what my greatest fear was

I would tell you it is a world without the beauty of creation.

A world where children no longer knew how to hold a pencil or hum a tune

A world where people no longer used their minds to transform themselves.

I would tell you this in hope that you would fear this too

I would hope you feared the ever changing of society, the destruction of beauty in the natural world

So I ask one final question:

Do you fear a world where we cannot grasp reality, because we no longer know what reality is?
