IB and AP Art Show ’26

The IB/AP art show happened in the last week of March, where art students presented their artworks from their portfolio and invited the student body to see their art. The AP and IB classes have been working on their portfolios for the entire school year, and have obviously put a lot of effort and talent into it, and as a school we should show our appreciation by showing up to the art show every spring.

Mrs. Devita, my AP art teacher and one of the curators for the art show, had this to say about the art students at BHS;

“The yearly IB/AP Art show is not only a showcase of the higher level art students, but of artistic accomplishments of students in every class. I love that it has grown to include so many art pieces from so many different classes, and my hope is that BHS students see the amazing things that they can create if they choose to take an art elective. I want to remind students that it doesn’t matter if you have zero art experience or “aren’t good at art”–what matters is that you want to learn something new, make something cool, and have fun doing it. You shouldn’t take classes because you already know something…you take classes to learn something! So please, consider signing up for an art class that interests you. You might be surprised at what you can learn how to do!”

The Art show is not just for presenting portfolios, but for celebrating the artists who make them, and hopefully inspires more students to have a greater appreciation for art, or even inspires them to try making something, themselves. The art students at BHS are so talented, and the art show has their best and unique works on display, “The art was all different and reading about the different processes and ideas was fun and exciting.” Says Grace Krause, a member of NAHS who had their work displayed in the art show.

Overall, the IB and AP art show gives opportunity for our art students to be appreciated, and so, motivates these artists to keep making things, understanding the value of their creativity and effort. If you could not come this year, I highly recommend going next year to support student artists and their work.
