National Arts Honors Society

Overview:

National Arts Honors Society just had its first meeting on September 9th, and if you’re a member, you are required to collect a total of 15 art activities/event hours by the end of the school year.* These activities must fall under one of three categories; Art scholarship, character, and service

Why should I join NAHS?

NAHS is an honors society dedicated to art. Not only does it look good on transcripts, but also you’ll find like-minded people who enjoy art as much as you. Like most honor societies, there are requirements a person must complete before becoming a member:

  •  90 or higher in Art Classes.
  • Grade 9-12 with 1 year of credit in Art.
  • Must maintain a “B” average in other subject areas.

These requirements were taken directly from the Honors Society Website

So, usually, a student completes these requirements by Sophomore or Junior year.

How do I submit an application to join?

If the previously stated requirements are fulfilled, then a student must be recommended by one or two art teachers to join NAHS. After this, you’re invited to the NAHS Google classroom, and emailed an application form.

The application requires a photo of your personal artwork and a short response.

If accepted, then you can be inducted the following school year.

*You can find a list of art events that fit the requirements for hours in the NAHS Google classroom, under the September 9th Meeting assignment.
