With the NFL season coming to an end, four teams prepare to play a game that will decide their fate for this year’s Super Bowl: Super Bowl LVI.
The Cincinnati Bengals, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, will be facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the AFC championship title and a trip to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have been to the Super Bowl the past two years and to the AFC championship three years in a row. They beat the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 and lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2021 Super Bowl. The Bengals have not been to a Super Bowl since 1989 and to an AFC championship since 1988.
The Chiefs have had a great season with a record of 12 wins and 5 losses. Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Tyrann Mathieu, and Chris Jones are among the team’s best players. The Bengals have had a season of 10 wins and 7 losses led by Joe Burrow, their quarterback, Ja’Marr Chase, Trey Hendrickson, and Jessie Bates.
The NFC championship will be the Los Angeles Rams, led by quarterback Matthew Stafford, against the San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers faced off against the Chiefs in the 2020 Super Bowl and lost. The Rams lost in the 2019 Super Bowl against the Patriots. Both teams are hoping for redemption, but they must win the NFC championship before even having a chance to redeem themselves in the 2022 Super Bowl.
The Rams have also had a great season with 12 wins and 5 losses. The team consists of many talented players including Matthew Stafford, Odell Beckham Jr., Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, and Jalen Ramsey. The 49ers have pulled out 10 wins and 7 losses led by Jimmy Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa, and George Kittle.
These two games will be played on Sunday, January 30th at 3:05 PM and 6:30 PM. The two winning teams will be facing off at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 13th at 6:30 PM. If the Rams win their game and make it into the Super Bowl, this will be the second year in a row that a team will be playing at their home stadium for the Super Bowl, following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who played at their home stadium last year in the 2021 Super Bowl.
