After an impressive regular season, the Bedford Bulldogs boys varsity soccer team entered the NHIAA Division I postseason looking to carry its success into the playoffs. Finishing second in the Division I standings with a record of 13-2-2, the Bulldogs established themselves as one of the state’s top teams, finishing behind only Nashua South. After securing a first-round victory against Dover, Bedford has continued its postseason push with hopes of making a deep tournament run.
Throughout the regular season, Bedford focused on building the consistency and chemistry needed to compete against the state’s best teams. Facing challenging opponents week after week, the Bulldogs learned to adjust, overcome adversity, and prepare for the intensity of postseason soccer. Their performances throughout the season established them as a serious contender heading into the Division I tournament.
As the postseason approached, the Bulldogs knew that their regular-season success would only matter if they could carry that same level of play into the tournament. The team’s focus shifted toward executing under pressure, limiting mistakes, and taking advantage of opportunities. Junior Devyn Lafferty emphasized the importance of staying focused as the competition intensified. “It’s what separates a good team from a championship team. The seasons really long a lot of games a lot of fatigue and being able to show up every game focused on winning and not only being focused for the big games against other top teams but putting away weaker teams is so important for good seeding, to build confidence, and to get a consistent way of playing throughout the season that the team can carry into the playoffs and hopefully helping us win a championship,” Lafferty said.
The Bulldogs began their playoff campaign against Dover, earning a 7-0 victory to advance to the next round. The win showcased the preparation and determination that had carried Bedford throughout the regular season. With the first-round hurdle behind them, the Bulldogs now turn their attention toward Merrimack, looking to continue their momentum and compete for a Division I championship.
The first-round victory gave Bedford an opportunity to build on the momentum established throughout the regular season. However, the Bulldogs know that the challenges will only become greater as the tournament progresses. With a strong regular season behind them and their postseason run underway, Bedford remains focused on continuing its success and pursuing a Division I championship.
