Bedford Bulldogs Winter Dominance

The 2025–2026 winter season proved once again that Bedford High School is one of New Hampshire’s premier athletic programs. Across basketball, hockey, swimming, wrestling, track, and alpine skiing, the Bulldogs consistently competed at the highest level, bringing home championships, deep playoff runs, and multiple individual honors.

The boys basketball team continued its impressive stretch of success, finishing the season with an 18–3 record and advancing to the Division I semifinals for the fourth consecutive year. After winning the state championship last season, the Bulldogs entered the playoffs with high expectations but fell short in a tough semifinal matchup against Trinity. Despite the loss, the team secured four All-State selections and maintained its reputation as one of the top programs in the state. Adding to the significance of the season, longtime head coach Coach Marino announced his retirement, marking the end of an era for Bedford basketball.

The girls basketball team mirrored that success with a 21–3 record and another deep playoff run. Coming off their championship victory last year, the Bulldogs returned as strong contenders but were defeated by Londonderry in the semifinals. Like the boys team, the girls earned four All-State recognitions, highlighting their consistency that has defined the program in recent years.

On the ice, the boys hockey team showed major growth throughout the season. Finishing with a 7–8–3 record, the Bulldogs demonstrated significant improvement compared to the previous year. Their efforts earned Coach Garitty Coach of the Year honors, while three players received All-State recognition. Bedford’s season came to an end in the quarterfinals with a hard-fought 4–2 loss to Concord, but the team’s progress shows a bright future ahead.

In the pool, both the boys and girls swimming and diving teams dominated the competition, each capturing state championships. The Bulldogs excelled in relay events, winning both the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relays on both sides. In addition, multiple swimmers secured first-place finishes in individual events, showcasing the depth and strength of Bedford’s program.

Rounding out the season, the girls alpine ski team added another title to Bedford’s collection by winning the state championship. Their performance further emphasized the all-around excellence in winter athletics.

Bedford’s dominance also extended to individual accomplishments. In wrestling, Gavin McConnell and Grace Kenna each captured state championships, representing the Bulldogs at the highest level. In girls indoor track, Mikita Barry won the 1000m, further adding to Bedford’s list of top individual performers this winter.

With championships, playoff success, and individual achievements across nearly every sport, Bedford’s winter season was a clear display of dominance. As the Bulldogs continue to build on this success, they continue to show why they are one of the best in NH.
